Industry Bodies:



PRS (Performing Rights Society) - A society of songwriters, composers and music publishers. They license the musical compositions and lyrics when they are covered.

PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited) - A music licensing company and performance rights organisation, they collect royalties for performers and record companies when they play their own material.

MCPS (Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society) - A not-for-profit organisation which represents composers, songwriters and music publishers. 

MU (Musician's Union) -

BECTU (Broadcasting Entertainment, Cinematograph and Theatre) - 

PLASA (Professional Lighting and Sound Association) - 

MPG (The Music Producers Guide) - Promotes and represents all individuals in the music production and recording professions. It a professional organisation that embodies collective and individual creative contributions to the production and recording of all genres of music ad media related activities.

APRS (Association of Professional Recording Services) - Promotes the highest standards of professionalism and quality within the audio industry.


Roles (Either white, brown or granary):


Mastering Engineer - A person skilled in the practice of taking audio that has been previously mixed in either the analog or digital domain.

Sound Engineer - A technician dealing with acoustics for a broadcast or musical performance.


Producer - Oversees and manages the sound recording and production of a band or performer's music.
